Casa Rojo The Orange Republic 2024
Castile and León, Spain (75 cL)
A vibrant white from Castilla y León that reveals Godello in an expression that is fresh, generous and deeply mineral.
Born in Cacabelos, in the Bierzo region, The Orange Republic puts the spotlight on Godello, one of north-western Spain’s emblematic white grapes. The nose opens with aromas of peach and apricot, followed by citrus notes of lime and grapefruit, white flowers and delicate herbal nuances. Subtle hints of oak and dried fruit bring additional depth to the wine. On the palate, freshness meets substance, with a silky, enveloping texture. Its well-balanced acidity carries the wine through to a long, dry and mineral finish, where ripe fruit is lifted by a refreshing sense of tension. A highly gastronomic white, it pairs beautifully with fish ceviche, grilled seafood or roasted octopus, as well as poultry served with citrus-based sauces.
Founded in 2011 by José Luis Gómez and Laura Rojo, Casa Rojo was created with a desire to tell the story of Spanish wine differently, giving voice to the grapes, terroirs and cultures that shape the country. From the Atlantic to Ribera del Duero and the Mediterranean landscapes, the winery works across some of Spain’s most distinctive wine regions, combining a contemporary approach with a deep respect for the identity of each place. In Cacabelos, The Orange Republic celebrates Godello and the distinctive expression of Bierzo’s terroirs.
